Frequently asked questions about bit fitting

Whatever work your horse does, it deserves a well-fitting saddle and bridle. Well-fitting harness prevents problems and enables the horse to perform the work required and deliver the best performance.

Tweespan/Fryso has been available since 2018 for a suitable bit for your horse. Our saddle fitter Emma has full training IEEBF followed and can give you good advice about bridle and bit.

Frequently asked questions about bit fitting at Tweespan/Fryso

Which brands of bits/bridles do you work with?

We have many different types of bits from the brands BR, Harry's Horse, Neue Schule, Bombers, Sprenger Stubben and Beris.

We have bridles from Fryso, Bridle2Fit, Tess, Passier, Montar and Anky.

Do you only look at the bit?

No, certainly not, we always check whether there is any damage to the teeth or mouth. This could be a signal of bad teeth (and a dental appointment due), a poorly fitting or poorly placed bit, or a technical driving problem.

We also check the current bridle to ensure it is not pinching somewhere, for example. Does this anatomical headpiece fit the anatomy of your horse? If the bridle is uncomfortable, a better fitting bit is not the complete solution.

How do I know if the bit/bridle I have is right for my horse?

Various “problems” can be caused by dental problems or an uncomfortable bit/bridle. Signs can be: holding the tongue out, shaking the head, broken corners of the mouth or bald spots, tilting the head, being against the hand, tense, nervous or insensitive. Of course, these signals can also have another cause.

However, some horses will not show clear signals and may respond better to a different reinforcement during bit fitting.

Is bit fitting also possible for driving?

Certainly, this is just as valuable as a well-fitting bit for riding a horse. Emma is also trained for this.

Can I also have a bar and snaffle fitted?

Yes, whether you want to make the switch to bar and snaffle right away or want to have your current brim checked, you can contact us.

Can I pay by card?

All our employees have a card reader with them. So pinning is no problem. Payment can also be made in cash. Payment by credit card or other methods is not possible.

Can I make an appointment for an evening/Saturday/Sunday?

No, we only visit during the day on working days.
